One of the more popular beaches on south-west Trinidad is Vessigny beach, located at Vessigny village approximately three kilometers past the Pitch Lake in La Brea.
Approximately and hour and half drive from Port of Spain it is a good destination for road trips.
The beach isn’t the prettiest, but most weekends, it becomes a venue for beach parties and excursions.
This South Trinidad Beach is extremely popular and so the Tourism Development Company has provided facilities at the beach.
Facilities
These facilities include a car park, snack bar, camp grounds, picnic tables, changing rooms with showers and toilets.
The changing rooms and snack bar are open on weekends and during school holidays.
The facilities are set back from the beach so there is a park like area behind the beach and before the facilities.
Vessigny Beach has calm seas with low waves and the water is generally cleaner during the dry season.
The water is shallow, so it is safe and fun for the little ones and for those who want a good workout in swimming.
As this a very popular beach, on Public Holidays it can be crowded with beach parties and bus excursions.
There are lifeguards from the Ministry of Tourism stationed at the beach and they generally work from 10am to 5.30pm.
Event Hosting
Vessigny is not just a beach but a place where memories are made.
It is host to weddings, christenings and a variety of functions and events.
It has everything for a dream wedding – gazebo, bridges and secure parking and has top of the line facilities which is well maintained.
The best thing is that since hardly anyone goes there, it is never crowded.
